In an “off the record” summit organized by Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, major news outlet executives and anchors were invited to meet with President Elect Trump at his penthouse in New York. Among the attendees were CNN’s Jeff Zucker and Erin Burnett, NBC’s Deborah Turness, Lester Holt and Chuck Todd, ABC’s James Goldston, George Stephanopoulos, David Muir and Martha Raddatz. The list goes on to include MSNBC’s Phil Griffin, Fox News’ Bill Shine, Jack Abernethy, Jay Wallace and Suzanne Scott, CBS’ Norah O’Donnell John Dickerson, Charlie Rose, Christopher Isham and Gayle King.

Luke 12: [2] For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. [3] Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

Have you ever heard the expression “curiousity killed the cat”? They may have been expecting to receive a presidential itinerary. I can’t help but wonder what was going on in the minds of these media heads as they waited for President Trump to address them. They had to know that some harsh words might come their way, how could they not? Most major news outlets had been waging war against Trump from the beginning of his campaign. According to the Post, President Trump began with Jeff Zucker from CNN, saying “I hate your network, everyone At CNN is a liar and you should be ashamed”. This and other unverifiable reports of complaints made by media heads, saying that the meeting was a disaster and that Trump exploded on them, also according to the Post.

POLITICO had a less intense version of the “dressing down”, saying that Trump expressed the possibility of a “reset” of the tumultuous relationship between the president-elect and the media and that all he wants is “fairness”.

President Elect Trump has shown strength and courage in the face of adversity throughout his campaign. He is now adding to that resolve in his willingness to confront his accusers, holding them to account for publishing lies and spreading misinformation. This man shows an impressive amount of fortitude and determination! I can’t remember a president in my life time who stood up to media with such vigor.

Some would argue that this is a sign of pettiness or an indication that the President Elect is being vengeful. This could not be any further from the truth. Demanding accountability from major news outlets is long overdue. This last year’s news coverage has proven to be froth with misinformation, as well as revealing of the fact that they are willing to show open bias in an attempt to sway opinion in the political realm.

Fair and balanced news coverage is essential to our nation, enabling us as a people to make informed decisions. Once a media outlet shows itself to be disingenuous it becomes very difficult for them to regain the public’s trust. In this particular election cycle, most of them were caught with their fingers in the propaganda cookie jar. Mainstream media must give an account for their open bias if they ever expect the people to take them seriously again. It may already be too late, as indicated by the election results. “We the people” will not soon forget being lied to on such a grand scale.
